Ahoy it's a Baby Shower

For the past few months I have been planning a friend's baby shower, along side her mom. Event planning is my career choice, but paper crafting is something I really enjoy doing. So for me they go hand-in-hand.

When we were planning this I consulted my friend on a theme, but she didn't really have one in mind. However she did give me some ideas of what she wanted. Mostly she just wanted a themed party (since she is having a boy) with different shades of blue. I thought about incorporating some blue camo into the mix, since she is sort of into camo. But it just never worked out. I decided to put the theme aside for a little bit and focus on the rest of the party, mainly the menu and the games.

About a month before the party her mom made up an evite and sent that out to the guests. On the evite she had used a sailboat and the word ahoy. I thought that would be perfect for a theme. I decided to then go with that.

Everything at the party really came together in the end, it looked great and the ladies really seemed to enjoy it.

I made a sailboat garland with the baby's name on some of the boats. Now my friend has some decoration she can use for the baby's room.

My friend wanted her guests to write a message on some diapers for her, which I thought was a cute idea. I made up a sign and put it on the front of a blue basket, which her mom had, with the diapers inside. On the side I took two stacks of diapers tied blueish/grey twine around them and tied stars on the ends.

This is a diaper tower a couple of our friends put together for the mommy and her baby boy! How cute!!

I love these little tags I made to write down the different foods and drinks. They were really easy  to make and came in handy.

After the party it was time to set sail and head home. It was a fun experience putting together this celebration for my friend and her baby boy (who I cannot wait to meet).

I want to give a thank you to her mom and to her for allowing me to be apart of this celebration and allowing me to help plan it.  Thank you ladies!! I had fun doing it.

I know I normally do this section title in green (since it's my favorite color) but I thought for this post it should be blue *wink* 
Just like any party you never know how they are going to turn out. You don't know if they are going to be good or if they are going to have times when you think to yourself "what do I do now?"
I had a couple of times like that, but I just took a deep breath, consulted a friend and moved on!
I think the party turned out well. Her mom told me I did a good job. A lot of people thanked me. And it just boosted my confidence.

Crafty: Halloween Banner

A couple of years ago I  picked up some Halloween card size scrapbook paper. I made a couple of cards out of it but I had a bunch left over. Last year I wasn't sure what to do with it, so it just laid there unused again. This year I decided to do something with it... this was only after I found black and orange bakers twine in the dollar section at Target.


These are the supplies that I used to make my banners.

I measured and cut the baker's twine to length.

While I was making these banners I was burning one of my favorite fall scents. The one pictured above. This one is from Bath and Body Works but I also enjoy the one from Yankee Candle. Yankee Candle is my favorite candle company but lately I have found a few candles from Bath Body Works that I enjoy. The haunted house candle holder is from Yankee Candle.

I cut the scrapbook paper into triangles and then...

attached them to the bakers twine with Zots sticky dots.

These two photos are the final products. I have one hanging in my bathroom as well and another one to make for above my window in my living room. However that one is going to be a bit different. So keep a look out for that one *wink*

This is the table as you enter into my apartment. I have this cute fall welcome sign that I believe that I got at Old Time Pottery. I also added a couple of items from my scrapbook papers to add a bit of Halloween. The welcome sign will stay all fall.

*My Thoughts*
This was a fun but time consuming project.
I would come home and the triangles would be all over the floor because they weren't sticking very well with the zots sticky dots. I finally had an idea to cut small squares out of the scraps and attach those to the backs of each triangle.
I can usually find some good craft supplies in Target's dollar section or just some nik naks.

Crafting: Summer Home Decor Sign

I have been inspired by summer to make something crafty for my home. It has been raining every day here in Central Florida... which hasn't made summer much fun, so I wanted to add a little something to my home that brightened it up a bit.

I decided to make a summer home decor sign.

I always use a painting surface when I paint because I am messy and I don't need to have paint every where *wink*

This statement is very true and very appropriate. I enjoy the day time, I feel my best during those bright sunny days. I wanted something to remind me of even when it's raining the sun is shining. I think this is the perfect little sign.

I put it up on my book shelf next to my market peach candle!

It looks good in the candle light as well.

*My Thoughts*

I love the way this sign turned out and the crafting paper sun gives this sign some added texture.

I enjoy crafting and painting... so putting the two together is a nice release for me.

So be sure to keep on the look out for more projects to come.

Crafting Project / Remodeled Tray

I had Memorial Day Monday off, so I took this time to finish a crafting project that has been laying around my room for months... oops.

I had been looking for a tray to use on my bed while I am blogging, reading or having a lazy day in bed. My mom brought home one for me one day and knowing my love of antiques she picked out a beautiful wooden one with a rose design on the bottom. I was not a fan of the design but I told her no worries I would remodel it. And that's exactly what I did...

I apologize but I did not take a picture of what the tray before I painted it. I thought I had one on my instagram (itskelly7) but I do not :(

Anyways... these are the supplies I used along with craft paper.
Wood glue
Sponge brush
.75" round hole punch
Clear sealer
Multi-colored craft paper

I first painted the tray white with Gesso because I did not want the bottom of the tray to be glossy, I don't need my things sliding around *wink*

I then picked out my craft paper... and of course there was glitter in there *wink* And then used the .75" round punch to punch the paper. Next I aligned the dots on the tray how I wanted them.

Any craft paper will do but I chose blues and gold sparkles. I am pleased with my choices.

Next I used the sponge brush and the wood glue to coat each dot in a thin layer and stuck them to the tray.

After I let the dots dry I sealed them with the clear sealer... The finish project I think came out beautiful and I am pleased with my new remodeled tray.

Just look at that detail. And the glitter *wink*

*My Thoughts*
I enjoy crafting and remodeling projects. This is one of many to come. Once school ends I hope to do a craft project once a week and share with you what I have created.
I hope this gives you encouragement to do your own project... and feel free to share them with me. I would love to see what other people create.
